A UCLA LOVE STORY
Sean and Alyssa met at Freshman Orientation at UCLA (Go Bruins)!! Sean and his orientation friends had invited some people over to their dorm to listen to music and hang out. Sean, the master DJ he is, was playing Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 by Kanye on his crappy $50 dollar Chromebook thinking he was Martin Garrix. In comes the most beautiful girl, and Sean’s first impression was “Is she an international student, she is so pale and where is that accent from”. From there, Alyssa and Sean start talking and they immediately hit it off. It seemed like they could talk about anything that night, and neither could stop laughing about it. While everyone was looking for classes to enroll in 1st quarter, Alyssa could not stop roasting Sean for wanting to enroll in a class called Scandinavian 50, despite Sean claiming it was going to be the easiest class ever (Sean was right ;)).
Sean and Alyssa continued to stay in touch once their 1st year officially started at UCLA. Within a few weeks of their first quarter starting, Sean asked Alyssa to be his date for an event in Redondo Beach. At the event, Sean surprised Alyssa with his somewhat-decent dancing, and most notably how fun he was on the dance floor. Sean ended up making his move, and they had their first kiss that night. Sean still says that was one of the best nights of his life.
Sean and Alyssa continued to see each other after, but with everything going on at the start of college, nothing official came from it. Similarly, during the rest of their time at UCLA, they would always see each other a few times a year, and although there was always a connection, timing never felt right unfortunately.
Flash forward to Winter of their 4th year at UCLA, Alyssa reaches out to Sean out of the blue to hang out. Sean says yes, and ends up taking them to the Griffith Observatory because he thought it was a date (and to this day Sean will argue that it was never “as friends”). After going to the Griffith Observatory, they end up going to Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood for a few drinks. There, Sean tells her that he was hoping to get in a relationship that year, and thankfully Alyssa wanted the same. Despite the world shutting down because of Covid in March 2020 and Sean fracturing his ankle around the same time, they were still able to stay together despite their inability to see each other, and they made it official in April of 2020.
Later In 2021, Alyssa started law school at Santa Clara University, and Sean ended up moving up to the Bay with Alyssa after getting a new remote job at Meta. Since then, they love the life they’ve built in Campbell with their friends, family, and their pups of honor Briggs and Goose. In October 2024, Sean proposed to Alyssa at a beautiful home in Pacific Palisades, and is so thankful that LA traffic did not stop him from getting their perfect sunset moment. Sean’s favorite thing about Alyssa is her smile and laugh, and is so glad she was able to get everything she had dreamed of.
